My Story

I grew up in Southern California, and had a wonderful childhood. As soon as I can remember, I wanted to "wander" and as soon as I could, I moved away from home for my first adventure. There was always something missing from my life, and I felt I could find it in travel. I lived in Washington for my first year of college, and then returned home to Southern California to continue school, and start dating the guy I spotted at a wedding a year prior.
When Matt and I started dating, we were ALL IN from the start. I knew what I was "signing up for", since he had just started a career as a Minor League baseball player. I realized quickly that it takes a special type of girl to handle baseball life, and there was quite a bit of sacrifice from the start, as we spent 6 months at a time each year in a long distance relationship together. It certainly fed my wandering spirit perfectly, and I happily met him in Minor League towns all over the country as often as I could.
Matt and I were married in January 2008 and I immediately dove into the role of “baseball wife”. I went from the often long distance girlfriend to the wife who handled EVERYTHING for our us. Matt played baseball professionally for 10 years, and split his time between the major and minor leagues. I was so incredibly proud of him, and happy watching him live out his dreams! I found my fulfillment through supporting his career, and we were so blessed to be able to travel to many different parts of the country. I knew that there was a part of my heart that yearned for a “thing” of my own though- something I could do and be passionate about, but I knew that when the time came, the right opportunity would present itself to me. And in the meantime, I focused on growing our family, and taking care of everything while Matt played ball.
We started a family right away, and had three babies back to back in 2008, 2009, 2011. I always knew I wanted to be a mother, so my children were 3 of my biggest blessings. But as many mothers know, especially ones who have had children back to back, my pregnancies took a huge toll on my body. I worked hard between each pregnancy to lose the “baby weight”, and succeeded each time. But I really struggled to get my body back after having our third little one. As someone who had always been “naturally skinny”, I felt depressed and sad about the fact that I barely recognized myself anymore.
I tried handfuls of different protein shakes and weight loss plans, but failed to see the results I was looking for. Just about at that time, a good friend of mine had invited me to one of her Beachbody Challenge Groups, and I decided it sounded like the challenge I needed. I dusted off the old copy of P90X that my husband had used a few years prior, and just went for it! I also started drinking Shakeology, which truly changed my nutrition, and I quickly started to see the pounds falling off of me. I felt more energized, and better about myself than I had felt in a long time, and I suddenly felt a calling to help others just like me find this new love for health and fitness. I hadn’t always been a health and fitness nut, but just like anything else in life, you are never too young or too old to start dreaming a new dream.
I became a Beachbody coach in October of 2012, and jumped in with both feet! Sharing my journey with others, and inspiring something in them that they didn’t see before brings me unbelievable joy! I love helping people get healthy, and even start careers in the health and fitness industry too! The possibilities are endless, and I’m so thankful I took a chance at that first challenge group. Why not you?
